Martha Hopkins opened the Hickory Stick as a country store in 1983 on Pennsylvania Avenue in Westminster. In the early years of the store, it featured country furniture, historic lighting, wall stencils, country wall decor including framed prints and dried floral arrangements, all displayed in three small, quaint rooms.
